• Away for the weekend

Another busy weekend for me. Luckily things have cooled down from the thunderstorms amd the sun is poking through again. This afternoon I am setting up shop at the local school fair with my friend J who will then take over. I am heading off up to Manchester for a celebratory weekend. T. No1 on will be 21 and we are throwing a party todnight for him. His family still live up norths o that is where it will be.

Saturday night we are going to a wedding reception of one of DH cousins. This will be i a posh hotel and I am going to have to dress up a bit.

We come back Sunday so I will report in then.

  • Download part 2

One of the joys of any music event is the people watching. Here are a few pictures of some of the people I took over the whole weekend:

  • Download part 1

We arrived for the festival in the late afternoon and found that there was very little traffic. parking was easy and DH, S and I set about getting to our campsite. The campsite was A LONG way from the car park, about 2.5 miles. Not far unless you are carrying all the paraphenalia that you will need. We were exhausted by the time we got there, then set up the tent and ate our first and worst junk food of the weekend. A nasty burger.

Here is the piture of our campsite. This was not as tightly packed as some. You could actually walk between the tents.

While walking we were among thousands of people all dressed in the uniform black but all were good humoured. My experience of bikers and rockers has generally been a good one it has to be said.

  • Back to work...

I have just had a lovely week off and returned to the rat race this morning. I had a little struggle to get up to speed but by the afternoon I was back on form.

Looking forward to the next month when I have my next holiday and go off to Festival at the Edge, the storytelling festival in Shropshire. http://www.festivalattheedge.org/

Hope everyone is well. I will pop in again soon.

  • Drama at the carnival

I went to a local carnival yesterday. The events included a parachute display. Unfortunately as they came down one of the parachutists landed badly and at speed and hurt himself. there was a very long second where everyone held their breath waiting for him to move. When he didn't there was a rush of help. In the event he was alright, here are some news reprtos.

  • Finally can get some peace

It is really hard to get in to blogland at the moment. I have take the week off to do things and have been doing them, mostly. Today I have designated as a day off but already have a list of things to do. Monday I helped dog proof a fence for a friend, Tuesday moved a stack of wood for the Green Gym and yesterday did LOTS of paperwork relating to business and home. Tuesday and Wednesday DH was off too. it ws great to spend a bit of time together. We went for lunch at a local pub yesterday. We haven't eaten out together, alone, for years.

Right, now off to catch up on everyone else's news.

  • Download weekend and other stuff.

I had a great weekend away at my local Rock fest known as Download. This weekend festival has been going for about 7years and prior to that the venue was used for the Monsters of Rock event. This was the first big event I went to and I didn't appeiate it at the time. In 1986 I was a St John Ambulance member and got to work in the medical centre. I did get to see one of the bands but had no interest at the time and so didn't stay long. The event is held under the flight path from East Midlands airport so you can imagine that when there was no rock there was still plenty of noise.

This year the festival headliners were Friday: Faith No More and Limp Bizkit
Saturday The Prodigy and Slipknot and Sunday Def Leppard and Whitesnake.

Most of the bands were a bit heavy for me. Sitting around in the sun all day was a great break. No phone calls and no pressure. One of the best things about any festival is the people watching. Rockers are very colourful though black is still the favourite shade to wear. The age range was pretty varied and some of the clothing was downright outlandish. I will post some pics over the next week or two and add more comment.

  • Migraine and Download

I haven't been in properly for a few days as I had a horrible migraine. It is mostly gone now with a residual headache. Have to prepare now for Download where I will be camping with husband and nephew from tomorrow nght. Hope the headache is gone by then, not good for heads all that loud music. Happily I can come home if unwell as I live only 20 miles away or I can lie down in the tent if necessary.

I hear that there is a lot of mud to wallow in. Wellies are at the ready

See you all after the weekend.

  • Life in blogland

Recently I lost access to BCUK. Whilst I could not access it I realised I might have lost what in effect is my diary for the last few years. Since April 2006. It upset me so I resolved at the first opportunity I would make a copy of all my writings.

I am back now and looking at the archives for my first months here. There was a lot of drama in my life at that time. my brother nearly died from a brain haemorrhage, No1 son had just been made homeless and got his girlfriend pregnant. I was clearing clutter and trying to lose weight. These seem to be common themes of my life. Things happened to make me change my lifes path and though painful at the time I am glad now they happened, they needed to happen for me to move on.

I guess looking back makes you realise how far you've come, and I couldn't have done it in better company :D

Goodnight blogfriends, sleep tight or if you are skip, good morning :D
