So the fun begins

by loveslifeloveschocolate @ 2008-01-24 - 10:51:12

Had another busy week, but fruitful.

I got in my business tax return, I got in my mortgage application documents, I rang Direct Line who should have sent a check for a repair for the builder 3 weeks ago and they hadn't. I am glad I was on the ball with this or it may have been months before I looked again.

Tuesday I went to the writing course and found that the woman who led it won't be any more due to ill health, so now the one who is leading it has changed what we are doing and we are not following what we started with. I don't mind too much as long as I learn something from it.

Been working alone again and enjoying it, but glad to be off for a few days. Today I am going to London with hubby and his colleague and his wife. We are going to a presentation at Park Lane Hotel. His team has won a prize from the nuclear industry and I am most proud.

Tomorrow we are off to Sheffield to see Linkin Park. Nothing planned for the wwked happily. may go for a walk in the country instead of doing housework.

Take care all.

Just read a whole week of blogs

by loveslifeloveschocolate @ 2008-01-20 - 02:28:54

I wasn't tired but now I am.

{{{{{{{Hugs }}}}}}}}} to all those going through hard times and for those who are not. i wouldn't like to leave anyone out now would I?

Again thisweek I have been busy. I have been left pretty muc to my won devices as my colleague is doing an audit and a course. I have been managing the ward and taking students with me. Thursday was a particularly busy but satisfying day.

Friday I finshed early to go to Carsingtom Water to look at some woodland work to be done by my conservation group. There is plenty of it and i hope to get several years of work out of it. Unfortunately the weather was atrocious and the guy had no transport to take us round. Looks like we will be alright though.

Writng course on tuesday was about planning and plotting and developing the story line. I am particularly happy becasue the two disparate characters we made up last week are now on a jungle holiday, doing voluntary work. I like jungles though I may feel different if ever I had to go and stay in one overnight :D

Also this week we had a guy come and talk morgages with us and now we are moving our mortgage in an effort to reach my distant goal of clearing the whole thing. My husband works for Rolls Royce though and there is talk of redundancies, my wage won't cover both properties ( he bought a house for his parents to live near us a few years ago) and so his redundance money such as it is would have to pay a big chunk off mine so we could afford to eat.

At least sorting finances now means that if ever anything does happen to us we won't be panicking because we haven't got a handle on our finances.

Better go now. Got conservation in the morning, burning the leavings from a hedge that has been laid for two years now. I doubt we will go if th weather is as bad as they say it wil be though.

Have a good day all :D

Great dream

by loveslifeloveschocolate @ 2008-01-12 - 16:31:08

I must have been feeling guilty about hubby having a rather quiet birthday. I dreamt this week. I dreamt that it was his birthday. We were in a spawling house by the sea in a cluster of other houses with a lot of space for vege patches between them. There is a knock at the door, and guess who it was, none other but the Queen. SH e came in and had a cuppa while more people arrived including both sets of his grand parents though all but one is now dead, and then loads of other people I didn't know, spreading around the house and the land in between the other houses. Dream finished when I a drink of alchohol. Strange thing about this dream was that nothing bad happened though all the time I expected it to and I wasn't stressed hosting it either. Will try to get the quenn for him next year :D

Busy little bee me

by loveslifeloveschocolate @ 2008-01-10 - 00:47:44

Well, a bit busy.
Been left to my own devices at work this week and have been working on my assignment. it is coming along nicely.

I have joined s 5 week writing course at Leicester riting School. It is a bit of a trek to get there from Derby but I need a kick start and help. It is basic stuff, but stuff I don't rememeber or never had the chance to practice in a guided way.

Tonight I have been out at storytelling. The fella tonight, Robin Williamson, sang, played guitar, harp and drum, telling old stories and sand his own contemporary songs. Here the link. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robin_Williamson

So now to bed to dream of harps and sea and all sorts of things.

Night night :D

Spiffing Saturday and Sunny Sunday

by loveslifeloveschocolate @ 2008-01-06 - 10:35:24

Yesterday was a great day for me; actioning plans that have been in my head for years.
It all started with a discussion on the sofas as we were cleaning up the lounge, Christmas stuff packed away for another year.

We have two sofas and they were both not great. We havn't done anything about them yet 'cos our dog sits on them all day and we thought we would wait until she goes to the great kennel in the sky before we got new ones. Well we decided we couldn't wait amother posible 5 years and in a very short space of time one was dismantled. We only found 50p which was a great disappointment.

Well, one thing led to another and we moved everything around in the lounge so now we have so much space we could have a very big party. This is the thing I have wanted to do but hubby was reluctant. I hadn't done it already because it involved moving the precious technical stuff.

This morning he is off to a conservation task moving trees from a meadow. I should have gone too but it is cold and littl'un would not be too happy if she had to sit around in the cold all day. She wouldn't be able to help much either.

So today I have a small list of jobs I am going to do for my business and a bit of garden clearing should blow the cobwebs away, also got the food shopping to do which I dread but is necessary.

It is not often that I get a whole weekend off and I seem to have been sitting around a lot watching TV it is good to get moving again.

have a good day all, I know I will.

Another OK day

by loveslifeloveschocolate @ 2008-01-03 - 20:40:52

Second day at work and saw some patients today. Nothing difficult. Had a meeting too. That was very relaxed so no problem there.

Walked briskly today 'cos of the cold, and did all the stairs, salad for tea. I usually don't have salad at all in winter so this is an improvement. Drinking plenty of water and trying to keep up the fruit and veg.

Hope everyone had a fine day. Positive vibes to all :D

I

Back to work

by loveslifeloveschocolate @ 2008-01-02 - 19:45:29

Yes, first day of the NEw Year at work today, though I did go in on the days after Christmas.

All very calm, things havn't gone back to their usual hectic pace, I presume that will happen next week. Even the roads were clearer this mornng.

Started on my finacial challenge this year and sorted out a claim with my insurance. In september last year the lead was nicked off the roof of my bay window and the insurance company said to get two quotes. It has take AGES to do this but we now have them. There were loads of builders who said they would come and didn't and most window firms wouldn't tackle it.

Tomorrow it is the tax man who gets it. Apparently I can claim an allowance against my union fees, so that will hopefully give me a chunk of money.

And for fitness? I did the stairs nearly all day and just a very small amount of chocolate. I didn't buy any food which gets both challenges because it saves me money too.

Hope everyone had a fine day. Hope the snow sticks if only for a short time, if it comes at all.

Happy New Year to all my blog friends

by loveslifeloveschocolate @ 2008-01-01 - 19:49:56

Hello to one and all and hope the next year is fab for you all.

I dropped out for a while 'cos I was completely cream crackered from doing too much and we have all been ill one way or another at least twice. Looking forward to the new year. I have no resolutions as such but I do have plans this year. One of them is NOT to go on a diet, but the other is to increase my levels of fitness another notch. I am hoping to extend my business year through February and the summer hols a little, but also pacing myself, one or two things at a time rather than go full throttle. December nearly killed me. Finally to keep up with friends and family a bit more. I did well with this last year but am working on it some more as I still haven't quite got there yet. That will do for a start. Keeping it simple as possible, more likely to suceed.

I already have some things to work through before I even get started on all the above. I am in the process of writing a 4000 word degree level essay for the pain course I did late last year. Straight after that my team and I are developing a business plan for our us to show what we do and plan our work for the next year or two. Nurses do not do this sort of thing but where I work all nurses are being downgraded from their current band to one below to one below and we hope to argue our case. I will lose about £6000 a year if they do that.

These are luckily things with deadlines and all will be done by the end of February. By then my pay off the mortgage plan will be well underway and the extension starting.

Looking back on the last year I feel it was a good one despite quite a few ups and downs and hope it will be as good if not bettr this year.

I will try and keep up here but as ususal will no doubt drop out to recharge batteries.

Have a good one everyone.

bhb :D
