Toad in the Hole.

by loveslifeloveschocolate @ 2008-02-29 - 16:00:52

Thursdays have become a regular girls night for and me. Hubby goes off to college and we eat whatever we fancy. Last week we had pizza, not exciting if you have it all of the time but G hardly ever eats it.

This week I decided to make Toad in the Hole. I have never had this served to me but always fancied it. So last night we followed a rescipe from the internet and it turned out perfectly. MMMMMMmmmmmmmm. I will be doing another one for the family in the near future I am sure.

Finished work for the week now, just got a few things to do then it is blob out time, at least for a little while.

Have a good weekend.

New mortgage

by loveslifeloveschocolate @ 2008-02-26 - 18:29:24

Well I started my New Year with a vow to tidy up my finances and clear my debts ( they are not big, just annoying). I have been doing this on a small scale with the help of this website http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/ The first big thing to sort out was my mortgage. I have today confirmed that I have done that and so next is the gas and electricity. We haven't done that for years so we should see a big saving.

I feel tons better for doing this as the Isa that should have paid my mortgage off in 12 years time had only risen to a fifth of the of the value of the mortgage despite me over paying since the beginning. The money from the ISA will now pay for my extension and I will start again.

Sunday morning

by loveslifeloveschocolate @ 2008-02-24 - 09:40:01

I have got out of bed early AGAIN. This doesn't seem to be right, waking at 7.30 on the weekend when I don't have to. My back does hurt and nature called. It is too hot to go back to sleep so now I am up.

Now enough of this whinging. What am I complaining about? I am loving it. I have been out to feed the birds and the scrum has begun. We seem to have one extra aggressive sparrow who has been chasing squirrels this week. Obviously feels the same way about seed as I about chocolate :D

At least my head doesn't hurt like it did yesterday. My calf do though Strange that I walked up a hill two weeks ago with no ill effect, and I take a longer walk with a few undulations and pull a muscle.

So this quiet time is a boon. Since going onto days I seem to have no time to myself alone. Every night someone comes round or I am going out. I think I must start booking timeout in my diary. I shouldn't complain with friends and family to talk to and love and occasionally even get some lovin' back.

So now I have little list of things that I have not been able to do with all these people around and hope to do some writing too this morning. Had a great dream that I wrote down as I woke up so I am gong to extrapolate that and see where it gets me.

Have a lovely peaceful day :D

Catching up....again.

by loveslifeloveschocolate @ 2008-02-23 - 22:01:34

Been a bit busy of lat and haven't had time to pop in and say hello to you all. I think I have read most of the last weeks posts.

I have had a very sociable sort of week. Last Saturday was my birthdya which I spent with a friend at Cheltenham Folk Fest, selling gothy stuff. We did reasonably well but didn't quite cover our costs.

We had beers to celebrate my birthday and just chilled out. On Tuesday I was with some girls who I know from my conservation group. One is now a full time mum and doesn't get out much so we had cake and tea at her house. All very civilised.

Then last night I hosted a late Christmas dinner for older mums from teh conservation group who I see more socially than anything. I did turkey and all the trimmings, though I forgot to get sprouts. One of my friends is allergic to lactose and egg so Christmas dinner was not a difficult meal to cook for her. I did a soup without cream in for her and found lactose and egg free glace which was just like a posh vanilla ice cream for her which we had with christmas pudding. MMMMM

I had a headache this morning but still managed a walk in Dovedale in the Peak Park with G. She is a lot better now. We managed 6 miles though I was a bit worn out in the end. I think we managed 2 miles an hour. We were not racing though and really enjoyed the birds and the flowing water of the river of dove as it passed us.

Tomorrow I am doing hosue stuff and sorting out buiness stuff that I have got behind with.

I will no doubt pop in again soon,

Fantastic day

by loveslifeloveschocolate @ 2008-02-11 - 09:15:01

Had a fantastic walk up Thorpe cloud near Ilam in the Peak Park yesterday. This is the first time I have been up to the top of a proper hill for years. It was so warm I was in my shirt sleeves in no time.It didn't kill me getting to the there either, which tells me again that my fitness levels have improved.

There were hundreds of people there yesterday. The car park and the over flow were both full as others, like us, decideded to get some air and sunshine. The ice cream bloke did a roaring trade too though he said he had expected more people. I think that even five years ago his trade would have been minimal for this time of year. he top was lovely despite the people, most of them disappeared off after half an hour and it was peaceful. We had a bit of fun playing roll the grape which benefited a crow who was following them down and eating them. Mostly we just enjoyed the view.

I am not good going downhill and the ground was slippery and muddy. I took a tumble on the way down and my leg went in a very funny direction. Walking ok now though I didn't think my body could do that.

Took hubby, littl'un.G and S, brother of one of my boys. Going to do it again soon.

Have a great day all :D

Finally!

by loveslifeloveschocolate @ 2008-02-09 - 18:24:57

Yup, finally finished my 4000 word assignment and am going to go shopping for ffod.

Going for a nice walk in the country tomorrow to blow these cobwebs out.

Keep well all.

Popping in for a quick hello.

I have not been in much lately but have been lurking here and there, keeping up wih my friends.

Since last I wrote I have been to London for an awards ceremony, my husband won a physics prize from the Institute of Physics. I was so proud. Not giving too much information here as he is being very quiet about it.

The day after I was at Sheffield Arena seeing Linkin Park, who were ok. It is a bit strange that at concerts now people don't light lighters and torches but all the light comes from the mobile phones filming the singers.

I am still attempting to work on my essay which I hope to have in by the end of January but lost my way with. I needed a key piece of information which informs the rest of the work. it was not available anywhere. I found someone with it eventually and and now reading it, hoping to finish the essay by the end of the week as it has to be in on Monday.

I have now finished the writing course and have been inspired but have minimal time to write. I have not found the perfect time to write. I feel sick if I get up earlier than half six, which is why I couldn't do standard day shifts; I am knackered at night. My best time seems to be in the morning but I am working and even at lunchtime there are people around. So there are my excuses. I will get some writing done one day.

Apart from all of the above I have been doing the usual mumsy things which take enough time up in themselves.

So I will lurk with intent and try to get in a little more frequently.
