Whizzy week

by loveslifeloveschocolate @ 2008-03-30 - 00:40:29

Been kept busy this week. A friend's father in law died last week and the funeral was arranged for Friday. She has split from her husband and so going entailed a lot of arrangements which included me taking over acting Mum duties for two days. Her sons are 4 and 9 and pretty well behaved thank goodness.

I was relieved last night so I could go out with some workmates to see a Led Zeppelin tribute band. Known as Fred Zeppelin, they played great guitar but failed to do 'Stairway to Heaven'. I am not familiar with Led Zeps stuff but expected to recognise more than two of them.

Today I had a haircut, did the shopping and sorted out the end of year report for my business. Now time for bed as laying a pond liner tomorrow with conservation. Sweet dreams and hope I remember to put the clocks forward.

Bank Holiday Monday

by loveslifeloveschocolate @ 2008-03-24 - 11:13:11

Wow, I so needed a rest from work. Feel tons better and got lots done over the last few days in preparation for the builders who start tomorrow. I never really appreciated weekends and bank hols when I worked shifts but now I really love them, especially lazy Saturdays where I lie in 'til *.30. Not mega late butI usually wake refreshed at that time but have to get up at 7.15, which is a little early for me.

Anyway, the kids have swapped bedrooms, loads of stuff has been chucked out and given away. A trip to the tip is required and though all is not sorted I am going to do some clearing up in the garden today. It has become a bit of a dumping ground and needs a bit of TLC.

Hope everyone else has a good day.

Friday again

by loveslifeloveschocolate @ 2008-03-21 - 10:21:00

Seems that Friday is my blog day at the moment. I have been working of course and been out a few times. My plans for my money are coming together and I have honed down my outgoings to bare essentials. I am talking about big outgoings like my ISA I started 10 years ago. This was supposed to pay off most or all of my morgage but halfway though I had only added a few hundred pounds of interest, I would have earned more interest over the last 12 years if it had been in a high interest account. Anyway, because of my work over the last few months I was able to cough up the £250.00 I needed when my alternator gave out this week. Glad not to have to use the credit card for tht one.

Saw an old friend on Wednesday. She has split up from her husband and is quite bitter. We caught up over lots of things including next of kin stuff and exactly what would happen to her children should she become ill or die. I am the person who will be her official next of kin so I needed to be clear.

I went out to a colleagues 50th meal last night and was drunk before I ate. I was drunk enough to taste a prawn. I am famous for my avoidance of seafood but these had been peeled and stir fried for fajitas, weird. They still had heads on. I liked it but wouldn't go out of my way to buy some. I was out 'til 11pm though it could have been later. We did start at 6.30 so that wasn't so bad.

Looking forward to Easter. Didn't get all the way through Lent without eating chocolate, and this week I have been craving it ( nearly ToM) so I gave in. Not such a good idea though I did enjoy it at the time.

Didn't do badly and will be attempting to avoid it from now on.

Hope you all have a great time over the Easter break folks.

Funny old week.

by loveslifeloveschocolate @ 2008-03-14 - 09:26:36

Thank goodness it's Friday. As above, had an odd week, feeling a bit out of sorts. Work not great after an incident last week. Lost confidence a bit. Son no 1 tells me he has got his girlfriend pregnant. This is a different one to the one he already has a child with. He still hasn't learnt.

Good thing though. G and I had tea last night and had a long chat about all the things that were bothering me, deep stuff for me. She was able to listen and helped. G. has been so ill for so long that it was a really pleasant surprise that she was so empahtetic in her responses. I still feel low today but better.

Looking forward to the weekend.Tonight is the reading group. Planting trees on Sunday, babysitting for a friend on Saturday and helping the in lasw sort out their financial mess, that is the other thing that has been bothering me. They are always needing to borrow, and they are always subbing other people. They have nothing themselves except a loan, an overdraft and other debts. Hope to help which in turn will help us.

Hope the weather holds out and the sun shines, boy I need it.

A walk in the woods

by loveslifeloveschocolate @ 2008-03-10 - 22:15:20

Took a lovely walk from Duffield to Little Eaton yesterday with my friends, just left the pub at the end as it started raining.

Sold a load of stuff on Ebay as it was a free listing weekend. Sorted out a load of financial stuff and cut up a load of credit cards. Unfortunately cut up a debit card by accident :D so will have to get that replaced. So I had a good weekend.

I am really ready for a break now and so hope to make the most of the bank holiday weekend visiting family but more likely to be sorting out the house as the extension build begins straight after.

Keep well one and all. Hope to pop in again later this week :D

Wahay, the weekend is here.

Had a long week and am ready for a rest. Lay in 'til nearly nine this morning.
First my friend has not broken her arm, which is a relief.

Today is a free listing day on ebay so I am going to load it up. Tomorrow I am off for a walk around the country side with my conservation friends. Easy going weekend, just what I need.

Have a good weekend folks :D

Book crossing

by loveslifeloveschocolate @ 2008-03-04 - 09:36:24

Spent yesterday evening in the company of friends. First a book crossing meeting to which came G. and MiL. It was ok but would have liked someone else to turn up. Going to try a different location and time next time. I left 4 books and came back with 5, two of which wre originally mine and G borrowed and released them though I hadn't read them and had asked for them to be returned. It was a while ago so i guess she forgot.

Then to A and E to sit with a friend who though she may have broken her arm after falling running for the train. She has been rushing around a lot lately and this is a warning to slow down I think. Hope she takes it.

Beautiful day.

Despite te foul weather we had the last few days I was ab;e to get out to conservation today and really enjoyed it. I left ealy due to tiredness and headache, hormone related I think so came home and had a lie down.

Today we were working with Severn Trent on Carsington Water http://www.cressbrook.co.uk/visits/carsington.php The area is surrounded by lots of patches of fenced and hedged land with little plots of trees. We were working along a hedgeline, cutting it right back so heath and grazing land could re remerge. We had a great bonfire started by me and were watched by various sheep who were in the field with us. The weather was great

Mothers day has been great too with cards, and orchid from my daughter and a tub with some hyacinths bulbs in from my husband. Giving up the chocolate for lent was a great idea, not :D

Hope everyone had a good a day as me.
