Alt Fiction

by loveslifeloveschocolate @ 2008-04-26 - 09:30:40

Off today to the Alt Fiction science fiction and fantasy event at Derby's Assembly rooms. Not so many well known authors this year but the workshops are usually good. usually pick up some books from the booksellers there and last year got some free ones too.

Sunday I will be visiting the refurbished Sudbury Museum of Childhood. My in laws volunteer at sudbury and I have a friend who looks after the collections there and they will be coming with us.

Building is expected to now start on Tuesday seeing as the builder couldn't get matching bricks easily plus weather it has been delayed. Fingers crossed.

Have a good weekend all, hope the sunshines on you all :D

Wot, no housework?

by loveslifeloveschocolate @ 2008-04-22 - 08:02:33

I must have been in dreamland when I thought I would not be doing much housework all last week. In fact all week was spent sorting the house from top to bottom, throwing and recycling all sorts of stuff, clearing the financial and other filing and generally good clearout. Unfortuantely I haven't quite finishd and each room has a little mess in it. I am NOT doing it today, at least not this morning. I have a load of stuff to list for ebay for business and personal, a catalogue to finish creating and lunch with G. who has been away at her mums for the last tow weeks.

I do feel some relief though. The house was in such a state I couldn't get started on it. This comes from being too busy and often too lazy or tired to do more than the basics. I don't want to have to do this again.

Hope everyone is having a great week so far :D

I'm Back

by loveslifeloveschocolate @ 2008-04-14 - 10:36:10

Made it down to Porstmouth late Friday. Stayed in a guest house I have stayed in before but doubt I will again. I asked for a room at the back as last time we stayed there the noise was terrible after hours. The landlady said she would but when I got there she said that all the rooms had been booked. Ours was right at the front.

Dropped in on youngest sister and had a laugh over some old photos of her with big hair.
Bad sleep and disturbed by the room lady as I was having a nap after breakfast, cue headache. Visited sister no 2, J, who lives in a veritable pigsty. She wouldn't come out and so I took my neice, her daughter and my daughter to the sea front and flew kites, played on the shove 2penny machines, threw pebbles into the sea. All good fun and had a really relaxing time. Had a take out curry with my sister and then back and had early night.

Very disturbed sleep again and felt even worst and disturbed again by the cleaner after breakfast. In the end took a load of pills and got going. Should have been staying for lunch but just went home while headache was at bay. Got home safely. Slept better but shivery.

So here I am back to normal, headache still hovering and feeling weak, got a cold too, wonder if it could be flu.

I am off work this week with my daughter, the builders are not starting until Wednesday so I hope to get a lot done, looks like I may have to revise my plans. Looking forward to the rest and getting some of my list done, most of which is not essential.

Hope all is well with you lot, i'll pop in soon

Thats it, I'm finished

by loveslifeloveschocolate @ 2008-04-11 - 17:37:51

Yes, off now for just over a week. I really need the rest. I am off down to Portsmouth to visit my family and back Sunday so the builder can start Monday, we hope.

I have a list of things to do next week, none of them include cleaning. Just stuff for my business and bits I want to do that have waited an awful long time. Notice how I say rest but mean work, lol :D

I will report in on Monday, have a good weekend everyone.

Sunday Morning

by loveslifeloveschocolate @ 2008-04-06 - 07:44:58

I am up early this morning for no good reason apart from that I just woke up. The sun is shining and there is snowin the garden. I put food out for the birds and they are all out there stuffing their faces. A magpie has visited for the first time that I am aware of and the squirell is knocking snow off the cherry tree with every movement making it look like it is snowing again.

I have this peaceful feeling, more like a glad to be alive feeling. Glad that I am on my own for a hour or two.I am a bit desperate to get time on my own at the moment. Husbands nephew has been down for two weeks as his Easter hols are before my daughters. She finished on Friday. Each day I am getting a visit from G. or someone else. I am in two minds about all this. I am a generally socialble person who appreciates friends and family but at the same time I am a bit of a loner.

I went out for curry with friends last night. We went to the premier curry house in Derby, Anoki. It is in an old cinema and they have kept all the ornamentation, http://www.anoki.co.uk/index.htm#look. The waiters are all dressed in traditional clothing and the service is excellent. My friends are of long standing and we had a lovely time chatting.
The only thing to mar the evening is that D has a huge cyst in her abdomen. She has had it for a long time and there is now a fear for her that it is cancer. She will be having an op in the next few weeks. It is sad and worrying though that this is happening. She is having some tests in the week and probably surgery in the few weeks after. One good thing is that I will be working at the hospital where it is going to be done so I can pop in and chat.

So today I am appreciating what I have and should not be moaning.

Hope the sun shines on you wherever you are.

Wet

by loveslifeloveschocolate @ 2008-04-05 - 10:09:26

It's wet outside but I don't mind so much. Had a good week. Hubby has been offered a job which will take him up the managerial ladder and mean travel and more money. This is great at a time when he had moved jobs only 6 months ago because he was going no where. He has taken it and has already done some stuff with it and will fully relinqush his old job in two weeks. he applied for this job about 4 years ago but it was not the right time with the boys doing 'O' levels.

I had the results of my essay for the pain course which I took last year. I passed at 54% and think I am mostly happy with that. The question was more of a chronic pain question and we were doing acute pain. I had not written an essay for 10 years and never at degree level.

I also had my performance review yesterday. I was really nervous about this though mostly I know I have done OK. I looked at what I had done over the last year, and its a lot. I was told I was exceeding on all levels which is great. Can't believe it is a year already.

This weekend I have nothing much planned but there is plenty to do. Have a great weekend one and all :D
