I really enjoyed he first episode on Sunday, and hour and a half passed very quickly. I did feel that it was watered down somewhat and unrealistic in places.

Other dystopian futures include Oryx and Crake by Margaret Atwood (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oryx_and_Crake) and Make Room Make Room by Harry Harrison. It was made into the film Soylent Green starring Charlton Heston. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soylent_Green)

There are of course lots more but these two are most memorable for me.
