I managed to get down to see my sisters in Portsmouth and my brother and his family in the New Forest last weekend. I have three neices. One is 17 and the other two are 14 and 12. They are a lively bunch but no trouble so I was really pleased to see them.

I came back to Derby on Sunday night and planned a rest day for Monday. It was not quite the rest I hoped as the car packed up on me. It was my fault as it happens. When one of my sisters visited Derby in the summer she left a coat but didn't tell me until I was in Portsmouth. On Monday my nephew was travelling down to visit her so I took the coat to the train station to drop it off and when I came back got out the car but forgot to turn the light off.

The RAC were very nice but I didn't have 'at home' so it cost me £60.00 to have that so a man could ome and sort me out. Annoyingly, we have a jump starter thing but it was in the other cart which was being repaired at the garage 5 miles away.

This is the third time this year for leaving lights on. I haven't done it before. Must slow down. Ultimately this may pay ofr itself anyway as the car is getting old and has been having a few problems of late.

So Tuesday I was off to Manchester to buy stock from a warehouse there and then back to work Wednesday. I had a lovely short week of 3 days. Last week was hellish but everything had calmed down thank goodness so I managed to tackle some projects I had been wanting to get on with.

On a financially positive note my RAC loss was balanced a little by me finding a bus pass from work which I had paid £10.00 for and so got that back and better still I found a £10.00 note in the street last night in town so things aren't so bad.

I had great evening with friends last night when we met up at a restaraunt/bar in town to chat and gossip. It was very important because one of my friends has been struggling with her boyfriend who is a lovely soul but has developed alcohol problems. In fact he has had them for years but it has not become an issue until now when his mental health deteriorated and he just went overboard.

Today I am at Matlock Illuminations for the last time this year. Hope the weather holds off. Then tomorrow grass raking in the rain by the sounds of it. If it torrential we shall have to cancel the task.

I will try to pop in in the week but no promises. I am so tired nowaday that sitting and looking at the computer is the last thing I want to do of an evening at the moment.

We have now started the process of getting her into a school by visiting a local independent school last night. We had a great time looking around and seeing how things have changed in the last few years. I would love to do some of the creative stuff they do now with the aid of IT. Two more schools to check out before the form has to be in. One is five miles away and has a good reputaton,. Parents I have spoken to have have given it an excellent report. The other is the default school which is improving but it is a language college rather than IT/ICT orientated which is what she wants. Can't beleive the time has come to do this yet. 10 years has flown by.

I have had a fab week last week with my sister visiting at the beginning and then a trip to Disneyland in Paris; Wednesday 'til Saturday.

Happily there were only four of us on this trip. All my other holidays this year have had eight of us and been hard work. Here are some pics from our trip out. One of the best aspects of this trip was that the weather was good and warm, felt decidedly cold when back in The Midlands.

One of the amazing things about the place is the attention to detail. Everywhere you looked the detail was excellent.

The food was ok but you got what you paid for. Bagettes were best for lunch. My friends who we met while there booked us into some restaurants as you could be queueing for an hour if you didn't. We had a posh meal, an all you can eat meal and a standard sort of restaurant meal on various nights. There were plenty of places to eat. We did sucumb to burgers one lunchtime.

We got there just before 10 and had booked our tickets, so we were straight in. Had a great time wandering through the jungle and eating our free chocolate butons, getting history lessons from virtual people and seeing how our favourite chocolate items were made (including cadbury's cream eggs). These were all on tv screens set up with a short film of each process for the purpose. Unfortunatly the chocolate making process is mostly automated now and you can't really see the factory in action apart from the very very end where the chocolate bars are already wrapped and going off to be boxed.

one of the best bits is the play area where you can see yourself made into a chocolate figure or stand in chocolate 'rain' Best bit for me was an area outside the main museum called 'Essense'. There was a bit more history and then a room where you get a cup of hot chocolate ( like melted bars, not the drink) and some filling, I had marshmallow, Mmmmmm. Chocolate heaven.

We spent 3 hours there and felt a little sick by the time we left. May not go again but did enjoy it.

I am about to go off to work and do something I would like to get done for Monday. I was too busy to do it this week. I don't HAVE to do this but 2 hours spent hard at it will mean a lot less stress next week.

The weekend started yesterday aftenoon with a trip to the cinema to see Ice Age 3 with Littl'un and son no 3. I quite enjoyed it but felt really sick by the end. Don't go getting all sympathetic though. I did have a hot dog and some minstrels. I have been eating in a healthier way since coming back off hols and feeling lots better for it. This episode just shows me that the junk is why I feel rubbishy so much.

Once back from work I am doing some housework, the aim for the next week is to clear down stairs of my house which has got totally our of hand. I have made a start and am doing a bit every day. Tomorrow I am off to Manchester to SiL to help clear the garden of rubble and do some pathwork. The weather looks like it may hold so I am happy.

Have a fun and sunny weekend folks

We all really neeeded the break. Mid Wales I reckon is a bit of a secret. We went to 3 main tourist attractions and they were not packed. The weather was drizzly but ok on those days, we didn't watch the weather forcasts too much.

We stayed in a fantastic cottage that sits right by a steam railway. The place itself used to be a water mill. It had the main house and attached the buildings for the mill as well as some outbuildings. Whta delight. The mill was actually in place theough is disrepair. All the weels and gridnstones, the waterwheel and grain shoots plus all sorts of other stuff. The channel that the water passed through is present but shut off from the river but htere was plenty of water to get it going again. The roof had been replaced recently at some point so it is all protected from the weather.

The steam railway ran 3 or 4 times a day with real live big steam trains going between small village of Llanfair Caerenion and Welshpool. We wave at it whenever it passed
http://www.wllr.org.uk/ We were place about a mile from the Llanfair end and so we went by train into Welshpool one of the days.

We also had a lovely day at Chirk castle: http://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/main/w-chirkcastle . It is a lovely property and I could imagine living in it ( I wish) The curent owners do live in it which I find quite pleasing.

Another day we went to the Centre for Alternative Technology: http://www.cat.org.uk/index.tmpl?refer=index&init=1 There were lots of activities for littl'un and and things to do and see for us grown ups too. I had a chance meetup with an old friend too which made the day complete.

Finally a day on the lake of Bala and Vynwry. http://www.walesdirectory.co.uk/tourist-attractions/Lakes_and_Reservoirs/Wales7572.htm Both places were lovely and though the weather was a bit wet it didn't matter. Lake Vyrnwy was had a lovely picnic site and an RSPB reserve. http://www.walesdirectory.co.uk/Lakes/Lake_Vyrnwy.htm

On top of this I had a few rest days as going on holiday with 7 other people can be a bit frught and I needed some space. I got a load of business stuff done, mostly to do with spreasheets and read three books.

Now I am back the reality fo the wah pile kicks in and I am on my 3rd load already today. Luckily the sun is shining so most of it may be dry by tonight.

My friend J and I have known each other for 28 years and worked together for about 5 years. We get on so well and look after each other that we have never had an argument despite foul weather and completely different perspectives on life. Such an accepting and good friend is so important in life. She and I chatted all day about this and that, from discussions about cakes to the big things that are going on for us right now. The day was slow with minimal stress. After the carnival was over we went to her house and a few of our Mum friends came over and shared a meal. We sat in her garden while it rained protected by her brolly and gossiped and laughed. As a result I am re energised today and happier.

This weekend festival has been going for about 7years and prior to that the venue was used for the Monsters of Rock event. This was the first big event I went to and I didn't appeiate it at the time. In 1986 I was a St John Ambulance member and got to work in the medical centre. I did get to see one of the bands but had no interest at the time and so didn't stay long. The event is held under the flight path from East Midlands airport so you can imagine that when there was no rock there was still plenty of noise.

This year the festival headliners were Friday: Faith No More and Limp Bizkit
Saturday The Prodigy and Slipknot and Sunday Def Leppard and Whitesnake.

Most of the bands were a bit heavy for me. Sitting around in the sun all day was a great break. No phone calls and no pressure. One of the best things about any festival is the people watching. Rockers are very colourful though black is still the favourite shade to wear. The age range was pretty varied and some of the clothing was downright outlandish. I will post some pics over the next week or two and add more comment.

It is mostly gone now with a residual headache. Have to prepare now for Download where I will be camping with husband and nephew from tomorrow nght. Hope the headache is gone by then, not good for heads all that loud music. Happily I can come home if unwell as I live only 20 miles away or I can lie down in the tent if necessary.

I hear that there is a lot of mud to wallow in. Wellies are at the ready
